The Dance JOT debuts!

I'm thrilled and proud to announce the publication of The Dance JOT, a new quarterly journal created by students from my Spring 2011 Writing on Dance workshop at Dance Theater Workshop (New York Live Arts). As a final project for the course, the participants formed a collective to create The Dance JOT as a venue "for investigating and discussing the art form of dance as well as reflecting on the unique challenge of capturing dance in words."

ProjectSite: where artists and donors connect

The enterprising United States Artists organization has launched ProjectSite, an Internet portal to facilitate direct connection between potential donors and artists from a variety of disciplines, including the dance companies Urban Bush Women and Eiko and Koma:

ProjectSite was created by United States Artists to expand its mission of investing in the creativity of American artists collectively and individually by encouraging personal encounters and choices. Eiko & Koma were honored with a United States Artists Fellowship when it was first created in 2006. ProjectSite is a community where artists and those that love and support them can share their latest work, discover new artists, enter into a dialog with each other, and make direct donations (of any size, all of which are tax deductible) in new projects created by each artist. US Artists envisioned ProjectSite as the first Internet site that allows direct public donations between art patrons and pre-selected artists.

Visit Eiko & Koma's ProjectSite here.

Artists and potential donors, learn more about how ProjectSite works here.

Day Eight: Donate!

Every day for the next several days, I will post a note highlighting one simple way in which you can show InfiniteBody blog some love!

Donate! Help bring back Body and Soul podcast!

Your donation of any amount--and frequency--will help provide for the monthly bandwidth fees for these popular interviews with dance artists and dance advocates.

Body and Soul was launched in 2007 and concluded in June 2009. If you're a new reader of InfiniteBody and not familiar with the Body and Soul series, let me recommend several interviews that I particularly enjoyed. You can listen via InfiniteBody posts or on iTunes.

Nora Chipaumire

Tom Pearson and Zach Morris

Camille A. Brown

Miguel Gutierrez

Michelle Boulé

Alex Escalante

Subscribe and download the entire series from iTunes. And, while you're at it, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd rate and write a review for Body and Soul on its iTunes site!

Many folks in the dance community have thanked me for Body and Soul and have wondered if it would return. It can return, perhaps as early as the coming fall dance season, and even be enhanced, with your support.

Thanks!
